User Services and Collection Division (USCD)
USCD selects, acquires, catalogs, indexes, provides access to and disseminates the material in the NLM collection.
Associate Fellowship Program (AFP)
The National Library of Medicine offers a one-year residency fellowship for recent library science graduates interested in a career in health sciences librarianship. The fellowship, which begins each year in September, offers an opportunity to learn about all aspects of the National Library of Medicine from its products and services to research and development; from policy to administration; and from the changing edges of scholarly communication to meeting the ongoing information needs of health professionals and the public. History of Medicine collects, preserves, makes available, and interprets for diverse audiences – including researchers, educators, students, and the general public – one of the world's richest collections of historical material related to Human health and disease.

NLM Intramural Research Program
The NLM Intramural Research Program (IRP) develops and applies computational approaches to a broad range of information problems in biology, biomedicine and human health. The NLM IRP also provides exciting training and research opportunities for future computational health and bioinformatics leaders. NLM’s current research emphases lie in two areas. In computational health research, the focus includes natural language processing, clinical image processing, biomedical ontologies and information models, and clinical analytics. In computational biology research, topics include transcription, chromatin and networks; structure and function; sequence statistics; and evolutionary genomics.
