RxNorm Data Changes
No major data changes to report for the February release.
Upcoming RxNorm Data Changes
As a courtesy to users, this section provides advance notice of possible upcoming RxNorm data changes. More information about each change will be provided or repeated in the future. Please note that planned data changes and timelines may change if issues arise.
- Basis of Strength (BoSS) attributes will change in April 2021 at the earliest
- Several of the BoSS attributes will change from being present on the SCDC to the SCD
- New RxNorm terminology Term Types (TTYs) will be added April 2021 at the earliest
- RxNorm will add three new TTYs:
- Semantic Clinical Drug Form Precise (SCDFP)
- Semantic Clinical Dose Form Group Precise (SCDGP)
- Semantic Branded Drug Form Precise (SBDFP)
- Two RxNorm weekly releases returning
In 2019, RxNorm discontinued 2 weekly releases. They will return and will be available on April 28, 2021 and October 27, 2021. The two returning weekly releases will immediately precede the full May and November RxNorm monthly releases moving forward. RxNorm will create 52 weekly releases per year.
