Learn about bioinformatics, the data science of biology!
The Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) is pleased to open registration for the eleventh cohort of Bioinformatics and Biology Essentials for Librarians: Databases, Tools, and Clinical Applications.
This 14-week, 30 credit hour, self-paced online class reviews basic biology concepts and provides hands-on experience with National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) molecular biology databases.
This class is designed for librarians who offer, or intend to offer, bioinformatics services; and also for librarians who use gene and protein information on a periodic or irregular basis to serve their patrons. Participants who successfully complete the class are invited to join an alumni forum that includes discussion and additional learning opportunities.
Expect to spend at least 30 hours working through this class.
Subject matter experts for this course include staff scientists from NCBI, Peter Cooper, PhD, and Majda Valjavec-Gratian, PhD.
